The WHEEL OF INDEPENDENCE™ Online Tool
The WHEEL OF INDEPENDENCE™ online tool is used to track progress and measure outcomes for independence and functional life skills.
It is most suitable for use with teenagers (aged 14+) and young adults who have the potential to live an independent or semi-independent life.
It is based on eight comprehensive life skill areas related to participation in activities of daily living at home, college/school and in the community.

Each of the eight skill areas are graded in order for the students to commence and develop alongside the hierarchy of skills based upon their individual level of need. Each skill area has been split into five stages.
How it works
Stage one comprises of the foundation skills required to progress in each area. Every stage gets progressively harder and the tasks involved more advanced.
Our online tool allows you to:
- Have individual profiles for each student
- Follow a skill hierarchy to assist student to progress with their independence
- Track student progress in each area with current and past comments
- Produce a visual graph (see example image) and score to demonstrate progress across each year
- Produce target sheets to share with parents and other professionals
- Produce reports to demonstrate progress across cohorts

We have developed a simple pricing model to suit your requirements. Prices includes a one-off £50 admin fee.

Training
We offer a full two part online training package on the use of the WHEEL OF INDEPENDENCE™ online tool and how best to put it into practice in your setting.
Our self-paced introduction is free to all licensees and is recommended for any member of staff who works within an organisation that uses the WHEEL OF INDEPENDENCETM online tool, whilst our ‘maximising independence for students’ course is a live online workshop covering activity analysis and strategies for supporting young people to develop their skills.
