DLD Webinar Series 1 – Fundamentals of DLD

Specialist Teacher Sue Marr, Highly Specialist Speech and Language Therapist Hilary Nicoll, Highly Specialist Occupational Therapist Debbie Burridge and Specialist Literacy Tutor Angela Belliveau, deliver this programme which covers the fundamentals of DLD. Having worked with children with DLD for many years in a variety of settings from mainstream schools to language units to specialist schools, it’s all the information they wished they had known when they started.

The webinar series is very action-focused, so by the end of the sessions you will both understand the different aspects of language disorder and have some clear, actionable steps, tools and strategies that you can put into place the next day. The advice and approaches are tailored to what is possible in a busy mainstream classroom and will help the children with DLD as well as typically developing peers.

These sessions are held as twilight, one-hour sessions and are also available via a video replay until the end of 2024. Access also includes a bi-monthly live Q&A session.

We know that language is often a barrier for children with DLD, but have you noticed that many of them also experience difficulties with sensory and physical skills? These can be difficult to understand and manage in the classroom but have a large impact on a child’s participation and ability to meet their learning potential.

In this webinar, Highly Specialist Occupational Therapist Debbie Burridge will discuss how to recognise behaviours that indicate sensory difficulties in the classroom, understanding the impact of attention difficulties, and understanding common physical barriers to participation in the classroom.
