DLD Day: Friday 16th October

Did you know that two children in every classroom have Developmental Language Disorder (DLD)? It’s a lifelong difficulty with understanding and using spoken language but can be surprisingly easy to miss.

A child with DLD might find it hard to follow instructions, take a long time to find the right word, or struggle to explain what they mean.

This DLD Awareness Day, the theme is “Together for DLD”: families, teachers and friends all playing a part in helping every child feel understood. If you’d like to know more, or think your child might be finding language tricky, visit www.radld.org to find out more.

This video is a useful visual way to explain to older children what it feels like to have DLD. Why not play it to your class on DLD Day?
